1. Windows server 2008 22 Setup Guide


1.1 Set DVD Rom at first boot
1.2 Create 2.3 partitions
1.3 Format/ Setup WS 2008 R2 on the first partitions
1.4 Install needed system drivers and utilities
1.5 Configure the initial configuration task (00be) LAN properties to static IP address

Set or Rename the Computer Name: to SRV-1

2.Create active Directory/ Domain Controllers


DNS- Domain Name Server
2.1 Open Server Manager> Add roles
2.2 Setup Active Directory Domain Services
2.3 Launch dcpromo exe (Run) dcpromo
2.4 Create a domain in a new forest
FQDN: Caslab.local
DSRMA: Account
Password: password 123

3.Configuring DHCP for PV4


3.1 Open server Manager>Click Add roles
3.2 Check box DHCP-Server
IPV4 DNS setting
Parent Domain: CSS lab.local
Preffered DNS Server: 192-168 1.2 (Validate)
3.3 Click add Button
Add (DHCP) Scope
Scope Name: Primary Scope
Starting IP Addr: 192-168. 1.50
Ending IP Addr: 192.168.1.254
Subnet type: wired (Lease duration will be 8 days
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
Default gateway: (optional) :192.168.1.1 (Router)
4.Create users account in A/D
4.1 Click Start-Administrative Tools-Active Directory users and Computer
4.2 Click (+) to expand CSS lab.local free
To create new users: Users-new-users
Enter the ff.
User Name: User1
Password: abc123

Note: Follow same steps to create another user.

5. Joining windows 7 Clients to Domain


5.1 Type at the prompt:IP Config/all IPV4: 192.168.1.50 (Preffered)
5.2 Rename computer Name: PC-1
5.3 Domain: CSS lab.local
5.4 Enter Administrator/ Password
5.5 Restart
5.6 Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to log-on
5.7 Click switch user-other user
5.8 Enter: CSS lab / Administrator and password
Computer name: PC-1
Full Computer Name: PC-1 CSS lab.local
Domain: CSS lab.local
6.Folder Redirection (GPO)
Add Role-File Services in windows server 2008
1. Create a new folder on drive D or anywhere
2. Rename the new folder (ex. Folder Name)
3. Share the folder with full permission in sharing and security
–In A/D Users and Computer:
1. In Domain-Local-Domain<. (Folder Name)
2. Create a GPO. < Folder name
3. Edit (GPO Editor)
4. Click user configuration>Policies>Windows Setting- Folder Redirection and
Click (+) to expand
5. Click App Data Roaming –Properties-Basic Rediree…-Create a folder.
Root Path: \\ Server name\ share folder name
Note: Do same to add other items to redirect (such as, Deskstop,Document,Video Pictures and
other)
In Windows 7 (Clients)
1. Log on user (ex. user 1 or user 2)
2. Create Folder/ with File on it (ex.Text Docs) on the Desktop or in the documents folder
3. Do same steps to add / create a file/s to others
4.Restart
In windows Server 2008 R2
1.Run gp update/ force and restart.
2.Log On the user
3. Check the folder you redirect if the user’s data was.
7.Printer Server Role and Deploying Printer
-In windows server 2008
-Connect the printer to the server
-Install the printer driver (if necessary)
Note: Some printer such as EPSON (x-300+ will automatically detected.
-Click add roles >print and documents service
-In print management –Print Server
-Click (+) to expand the domain local
-Printer > Add printer> Add new printer (LPT or USB)
-Select the brand / model of the printer
-Deploy with Group policy (Default Domain policy)
-Check if the printer was deployed

Continue:
-In windows 7 (clients)
-Log on user (ex.user 1 or user 2)
-Run gp update (for updating policy)
-Check Devices and Printers, (see the printers was installed).

8. Remote Desktop Connection


In windows 7
-Click Start > Computer >Properties >Remote Settings > Click >Allow connection from
.button..on the remote desktop then apply.
-To connect from server to client or vice versa Enter each IP address you wish to connect.

9. Web Server (ICS)


-Add roles/ web server
-To check open IE browser and run the domain with the web extension such as net, com,
edu, ( ex. css.lab.net.)
10. Connect Laptop to domain through Wifi connections
-Reset / Configure the router

-PW: Admin / Leave blank
-Dlink :192.168.0.1
-PW: Admin / Admin
-Connect to wifi ;(SSID –wifi name)
Do same as joining windows 7 clients to domain

How to add Active Directory Domain Services
1.Go to Start---Server Manager---Roles---Add Roles---Next
2.Put a check on Active Directory Services---Next---Next---Install---Close

How to Add DNS Server?


1.Go to Start
2. On the Search tab type dcpromo then hit enter
3. Click Next
4. Click create domain in a new forest
5. Type your domain name (ex.CSS local)
6. Then click Next
7. On the forest functional level choose windows server 2008 then click Next-Next
8. Click Yes, the computer will use dynamically assigned IP address (Not recommended)
9. Click Yes---Next
10. Type your Domain password---Next---Next---Finish---Restart Now.

How to Add DHCP Server


1.Go to start---Server Manager---Roles---Add roles---Next
2.Put a check on DHCP server---Next---Next---Next
3.Click validate to validate the preferred ip---Next---Next
4.Click add to Add scope and provide necessary information.
Ex. A scope of 50 hosts.

How to Remote Dekstop

(Just create admin prevelege account)


1.Go to start and right click to computer
2.Go to properties --- Remote settings
3.Then click Allow connections…
4.Click ok
5.Go to command prompt then type ipconfig
6.Remember the ipv4 address of the computer and the user account
7.Go to the other pc (ex. Server-Pc)
8.Go to start
9.Type remote desktop connection on the serve tab
10.Type the ipv4 address then click connection
11.Type the username and password of the user account
12.Then click ok
13.If successful the computer will be log off.

How to Create Organizational Unit

1.Go to start --- Administrative Tools --- Active Directory Users and Computer
2.Right click on your domain --- New --- Organization Unit
3.Name your Organization then click ok.
4.Right click on your organizational unit (OU) then click New --- User
5.Afterwards, provide the necessary information then click next.
6.Set password then click Next --- Finish
7.Create another account and do the same thing.

Folder Redirection Process

1.Create an empty folder and save in local disk.


2.Do the folder sharing
3.Copy the network path
4.Go to start --- Administrative tools --- Group Policy Management
5. Click Plus Sign (+) forest---(+) Domains----(+) of your domain name then right click.
6. Name Your GPO then click ok
7. Right click on your GPO----Edit
8. Under User configuration click (+) Windows Setting---(+) folder
9. Right click on the folder you’ve choosen (ex. Dekstop) then click Properties
10. On the setting choose basic – Redirect everyones folder to the same location
11. On the root path paste the network path of the shared folder then click apply ---Yes—Ok

Afterwards, go to your client and log in to the account you’ve created.

How to Log in
1.Go to Start—Switch user---others users
2.Then log in the account
THEN BACK TO YOUR SERVER-PC
1.Open the folder you use for the folder redirection
2.Open the account folder
3.Open the folder (ex. Desktop)
4.Click Continue—security tab—continue—click Administrator—apply
5.Click—ok—ok—ok—close
6.Now try to open again the folder then click continue
HOW TO SHARE/DEPLOY PRINTER
1.Install printer and make sure to install print services
2.Go to start—print management---click (+) print services—click (+) of the computer (ex.bene)
3.Click Printer
4.Right click to your printer (ex. hp desk jet) then click deploy printer with gpo
5.Click browse then create gpo for your printer
6.Click Apply—ok—ok
7.Right click again to your printer then click properties
8.Click Sharing then check share this printer
9.Afterwards go to your client
10.On the search tab type gpupdate/force
11.Then type y/y to log off
12.Log in again to your account
13.Go to devices and printers and check if the printer has been deploying
14.Try to print any text document
