POSSIBLE ANSWERS

Extension/Reflection Questions

1. Materials, tools and equipment needed in preparing / making PCB modules.

 Desktop or Laptop computer, laser printer, photo paper, copper clad
laminated board, mini drill machine, household clothes iron, plastic
container, ferric chloride solution, permanent black marker, plastic coated
wire, blade cutter, acetone or paint thinner, sanding paper and kitchen
scrubs.
2. Proper way of transferring printed layout to copper clad laminated board.
 Put the copper clad laminated board arranged in layer with glossy photo
paper printed with PCB layout on the clean wooden table with a piece of
maong cloth. Make sure the printed side of the glossy photo paper is facing
to copper clad laminated board.
 Heat up the Electric iron to the maximum temperature.
 Directly press the glossy photo paper using hot iron and apply gentle
pressure for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Safety Questions

1. We need to wear face mask and safety goggles during preparing and making
PCB.
 To avoid tiny grinded particles off the air in doing like in grinding and
cutting of PCB.
2. Safety measure to remember in etching process.
 Wear rubber or plastic gloves to avoid contact with etching solution.
 Wash hands after exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Infrequent/Contingency Questions

1. What if the circuit traces of printed layout did not completely transferred to
the PCB.
 Use permanent black marker to darken the faded track.
2. What if the etching solution was spilled off.
 Wipe it with a cotton clothes, wash with water and wipe it again until its
dry and clean.

Questions
...
1. When performing preparation and making of PCB, food and drinks are not
allowed in the work area.
 There’s a presence of live electrical lines in the working area. Spilled
drinks can cause electric hazard when it accidentally contacts with live
electrical wires.
2. Work in a well-ventilated area.
 When working with soldering iron and soldering leads, it produces
unpleasant smell likewise with etching solution. It can harm our
respiratory health. Well-ventilated area can reduce it.
