WINDOWS SERVER 2008 R2

PEER TO PEER CONFIGURATION


Server
Initial Configuration (OOBE)
1. Set the time
 Time Zone toTaipei +8
 Change Date and Time to present

2. Right click LAN (right bottom corner)


 Click Change Advance Sharing Setting
 Check Turn on (all) except password for both Home and Public Profile
 Save changes
 Go back to oobe, then click Configure Windows Firewall
 Then click Turn Windows Firewall on or off
 Tick Turn off Home and Public Profiles
 Click ok
3. Configure LAN (from Dynamic to Static)
 Click LAN (right bottom corner)
 Click Open Network and Sharing Center
 Click Local Area Connection
 Click Properties
 Uncheck TCP/IP v6
 Click TCP/IPv4 and click properties
 Set IP Address (192.168.10.1)
 No default gateway IP
 DNS set to 192.168.10.1

3. Go back to Initial Configuration


 Click Provide Computer Name
 Click Change, then supply computer name (SERVER)
 And supply the Workgroup (CSS)
 Click ok, then ok, then ok
 Click Remote Tab
 tick allow connection from….(less secure)
 click ok
 Click Apply, then click Restart Now
Client
1. Set the time
 Time Zone to Taipei +8
 Change Date and Time to present
2. Right click LAN (right corner)
a. Click Open Network and Sharing Center
b. Check Turn on (all) except password for both Home and Public Profile
c. Save changes
d. Click Start, then Control Panel, System and Security,
then under Windows Firewall, check firewall status
e. Then click Turn Windows Firewall on or off
f. Tick Turn off Home and Public Profile
g. Click ok
3. Configure LAN (from Dynamic to Static)
a. Click LAN (right bottom corner)
b. Click Open Network and Sharing Center
c. Click Local Area Connection
d. Click Properties
e. Uncheck TCP/IP v6
f. Click TCP/IPv4 and click properties
g. Set IP Address (192.168.10.2)
h. DNS is 192.168.10.1

3. Click Start, then right computer, then click Advance System setting
 Click computer name tab
 Click change
 Provide Computer Name > CLIENT
 Workgroup >CSS
 check Remote
 Check Allow connection from….(less secure)

4. Create folder in the desktop “Your Last Name”


 Right click folder
 Share with specific people “everyone”
 Set to “Read and Write”
 Click Share
 Done

5. Click Ok then Restart Client

4. View Peer to Peer Sharing by:


 (client) Click start , then computer, then click network (refresh)
 (server) Click start , then computer, then click network (refresh)

Server (Remote Desktop)


 Press TAB to obtain Subnet Mask (255.255.255…0) No Default Gateway
 Fill up Preferred DNS (192.168.10.1)
 Click Ok, then Close
 Check the made folder in the desktop of Client if it can accessed.

How to Allow the Remote and its Configurations at the server PC?

1. Go to oobe
 Tick Add Features
 Click the box (.net Framework) then Next
 Click Add Required Role Services
 Click Next, then Next
 then tick Common HTTP Features
 then tick Health and Diagnostics
 then tick Performance
 then tick Management Tools
 then tick IIS Management Scripts and Tools
 tick Management Service
 Then click Next
 Click Install, > Installation Succeed, then click close
2. Go back to oobe
 Click Add Roles
 Click Next, Tick Active directory Domain Services
 Click next, then next, then click Install, ….then close

3. Install “dcpromo”
 Type dcpromo in the search box (start button)
 Press Enter
 Click Next, then click next
 Tick Create a New Domain in a New Forest
 Click Next, then type deped.net
 Click Next, then in Forest Functional level, select 2008R2
 Click Next, then Next, then Yes, then Next
 Then type “Password”
 Click Next, then Next and tick Reboot on Completion

How to Allow the Remote and its Configurations here at the server PC?

1. Login
2. Then go to oobe window
 Click Add Roles
 Click next, then tick DHCP Server
 Click next, then next, and next
 Click LAN (right bottom corner)
 Click Local Area Connection
 Click Properties, then type the changed DNS Server Address(127…) to 192.168.10.1,
then click ok, then close, then close
 Go back to Add Roles window, then change the wrong IP with the correct one,
then click validate
 Click Next, then Next, then click Add
 Fill up the scope Name, (ASSESSMENT)
 Then fill up the starting IP: (192.168.10.2)
 Then the ending IP: (192.168.1._)
 Then click ok
 Click next, and tick Disable DHCPv6, then click next, click next
 Click Install, (observe installation succeed) then click close.

3. Go to Start, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers


 Click (+)deped.net, click (+)users(folder)
 Then right click at the work space, select New, then select user
 Then type the name of the user ex. testuser1 to both “user login name.
 The click Next, then fill-in the Password box
 Then uncheck User Must Change Password at next logon
 Then tick both: user cannot change password and Password Never Expires
 Click Next, then click finish
 Right click the user, testuser1, then click properties
 Then click Member of tab
 Then click Add
 Type Ad, then click Check name, then highlight administrator
 Then click ok, then click apply, then click ok
 Make another user name testuser2 and do the same configuration
 Click start, then type gpupdate in the search box. Then Policy window appears for the
update.
Client PC
1. Right click Computer, then click Properties then Advanced System Setting
2. Click on Computer Name and click on Change
3.Tick Domain, then type deped.net then Ok
4. Then login testuser1, then type the password
5. Click ok, then click ok, then click close, then click restart
6. In logging in, click switch user, then click other user
7. Login with the user name testuser1, then type the password, then press enter
8. Click start, then click Remote desktop Connection
9. Enter the IP Address of the server which is 192.168.10.1 then click connect
10. Enter the Password, then tick Remember my Credentials
11. Click Ok, then tick Don’t ask me again for…
12. Then click Yes

Still on Client PC
1. From here create a user like testuser2.
 Click start, then Administrative Tools, then Active Directory Users and Computers
 Click deped.net, double click users
 Right click on the working space, then click new, then click user, then type “testuser2,
both user logon name, then click next, then type the password, then uncheck User must
change password
 Then check both User cannot change password
 and Password never expires
 Then click next, then click finish
 Refresh the server and two users will appear there.
Server PC
How to Configure a Server for Folder Redirection?
1. Create a folder in a different HD Drive or Partition and name it, ex. FOLDER REDIRECTION
 Right click the folder, then click properties, then click sharing, then click advance sharing
 Tick share this folder
 Click Permissions, then Tick allow, click apply, then click ok
 click apply, then click ok
2. Go to start, then Administrative Tools then Active Directory Users and Computers
 Right click deped.net, then click new, then click Organizational Unit
 Type CSSOU, then click ok
 Check Protect Contained from…
3. Go to Start, then Administrative Tools, then Group Policy Management
 Click (+)Forest: deped.net, then click (+)Domains, (+)deped.net
 Right click CSSOU, the click create GPO, then type CSSGPO
 Then click ok
4. Go to start, then Administrative Tools then Active Directory Users and Computer then click deped.net
 Right click CSSOU, then click new, then click user, then type User1
 Type User1 to both user login name
 Click next, then type the password
 Then tick both: user cannot change password and Password never expires, then click next
 Then click finish then click User1
 Right click User1, then click properties, then click member of tab, then click Add
 Then Type Ad, then click check name, then highlight administrator, then click apply, then click
ok.
 Create another OU name as “User2” and do the same configuration

5. Go to start, then Administrative Tools then Group Policy Management


 Click (+)Forest:deped.net, then click (+)Domains
 then click (+)deped.net
 then click (+)CSSOU, right click CSSGPO, click edit
 double click User Configuration, double click Policies
 double click Windows Settings, double click Folder Redirection, right click Desktop and
Documents respectively,
click Properties then select Setting: Basic Redirect everyone’s folder to the same location.
 Click Browse, Go to that HD partition
 Then click the folder FOLDER REDIRECTION
 At the Root Path: edit and it should look like this:
\\server\folder redirection Click ok, then click apply, then click ok

Go to the client PC (exit remote connection from 192.168.10.1)

 Switch User, login using User1


Go back to the server PC
 Double click the folder FOLDER REDIRECTION
 Click User1
 Right click the folder Desktop and Documents respectively
then click Properties, then click Security, then click continue
 Click Administrators (Deped/Administrators)
 Tick Replace owner subcontainers and objects
 Click apply
 Click ok, then click Yes, then click Ok
Go back to the Client PC
 Login to User1 and User2 respectively
 Create a folder in the Desktop and name it “Your Last Name”, then you will notice that in real
time it will appear also at the server redirection.
 Create a Text Document using Notepad in that folder, type your
Candidate’s Name: YOUR FULL NAME
Assessor’s Name: SARIO P. CABANOG JR.
Qualification: Computer Systems Servicing NCII
Date of Assessment: DATE TODAY
Go to Server>Folder Redirection>
 Check if the file saved is on the folder.
 You are done

FINALE: Perform REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION
