Welcome to the Technology & Livelihood Education 10 – Information & Communications
Technology: Computer Systems Servicing, Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on
Installing Operating System and Drivers for Peripherals/Devices!
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators from public
schools to assist you, the teacher or facilitator, in helping the learners meet the standards
set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and economic
constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent learning
activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help learners acquire the
needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a learner is capable and
empowered to successfully achieve the relevant competencies and skills at your own pace

What I Need to Know
This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to help you master the
installation of Operating System, and Drivers for Peripherals. The scope of this module
permits it to be used in many different learning situations. The language used recognizes
the diverse vocabulary level of students. The lessons are arranged to follow the standard
sequence of the course. But the order in which you read them can be changed to
correspond with the textbook you are now using.

In this lesson, you will be learning the proper steps in installing computer peripherals
or devices.

Before we begin our lesson, let us first check what you already know about this topic.

What is It
From the previous lesson we have learned how to install Windows 7 Operating
System. This time, it will be the installing of computer peripherals. In this case, we will
be installing a printer to a computer.
Desktop computer/Laptop
Printer (Epson L3110 is recommended but if you have
other types of printer, just follow the user manual for
the setup and instructions.)
Peripherals Defined
The Computer Peripherals/Devices are the physical, touchable, electronic and
mechanical parts of a computer. They are also known as Hardware, which are composed
of different devices attached to the computer through the motherboard. Some of its
examples are: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, printer and many others.
For new printers, follow the manual instructions in unboxing your printer which
comes with the product.
If it is your first time to install this printer to your computer follow the step by step
procedure below:
Step 1: Insert the installer CD to your CD/DVD Drive – if you do not have a CD installer
download the printer driver from its website and run it as administrator.
Step 2: Accept Product License Agreement – tick on the checkbox I agree by the contents of
the License Agreement in order to continue with the setup and click Next.
Step 3: System Check & Installation – the program will check the internet for the latest
version of the driver. Click the Next button.
Step 4: Installing of the Printer Driver Software – Once done the program will give
you two choices. Choose Re-install the essential software if you have already
installed a similar printer driver before. choose Install application software
for a fresh copy of the printer driver and click Next.
Step 5: Printer Setup – Click the Next button and follow the instructions of the setup.
And keep hitting the Next button until it begins to install the Printer Manual
Package.
Step 6: Connect your Printer – use the printer cord to connect your printer to the
computer. Don’t forget to turn on your printer during this process so that the computer
can detect it. Once the computer finds the printer the Next button will be activated then
click it.
Step 7: Print a Test Page – the ink system will begin to initialize and prepare the printer
for its first test page printing. Click Print Test Page to test the print quality of
the printer. Click Next to finish the printer connection setting and proceed to
Additional Installation.
Step 8: Install Additional Software – the setup will check for additional application to be
installed. When you have installed all necessary applications click Finish to exit
from the setup. And your done setting up your new printer.

Directions: Read each statement carefully. Identify if the underlined term is incorrect. Write
if it is right and if it’s wrong, write the correct answer.
1. Insert the installer CD to your Hard Drive. If you do not have a CD installer,
download the printer driver from its website and run it as administrator.
2. Tick on the checkbox “I agree by the contents of the License Agreement” in order
to continue with the setup and click Next.
3. The program will check the CD for the latest version of the driver.
4. The program will then let you choose between Re-install the additional software and
Install application software.
5. Follow the instructions of the setup and keep hitting the Next button until it
begins to install the Printer Installer Package.
6. Use the printer cord to connect your printer to the computer. Don’t forget to turn on
your printer so that the computer can detect it.
7. The ink system will begin to initialize and prepare the printer for its first test page
printing.
8. The setup will check for additional applications to be installed. If you have
installed all the necessary applications, click Next to exit from the setup.
