It began in 2008 and works to increase the amount of creative works like videos, songs, and educational materials that are freely available online for others to legally share, reuse, and remix. Creative Commons licenses provide a simple way for individuals and organizations to standardize the copyright terms for their creative works while still retaining copyright.
