Creative commons licenses
There are several Creative Commons licenses that can be applied to images online, each with different terms of use. The main licenses are Attribution, which allows sharing and adapting for non-commercial purposes as long as you credit the original work; Non-Commercial, which only allows non-profit sharing and adapting; No Derivatives, which only allows verbatim copying of the original; and Share Alike, which requires any adaptations to also be shared under the same license as the original. These licenses can also be combined in different ways.
