Catch of the Day!

by Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira

Photographer Tudor Collins (1898-1970) was no stranger to the sea. He trained for two world wars before serving in the Navy and having a lifetime of boating and fishing. These photographs are part of his own lifestyle as much as the people in them. This collection helps us look at the 1930s to 1950s maritime recreation and big game fishing in the wider Auckland region of the Hauraki Gulf and further north.
