restaurants, big or small, it is seen anywhere. It is a generation where computer is part of
one’s life. Computer networks provide access to file-sharing among multiple computers
or other machines that are necessary to the daily activities nowadays.

This learning activity sheet serves as a supplementary learning material for you
as a learner to create a well-organized client-server network. It will give you information

TOPIC: CREATING DOMAIN NAMES AND USER ACCOUNTS

What is Domain Name?

It is a unique name that identifies a website. For example, the domain name of the
Google is "Google.com." meaning to say that each website has a corresponding domain name
that will serve as an address to access the website.

What is Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)?

The FQDN Stands for Fully Qualified Domain Name. It is the most complete domain
name that identifies a host or server. The format is: [hostname].[domain].[tld].

FQDN has Four parts:

1. Hostname: specify a website (www, mail, ftp, store, support, etc.)
2. Domain: identification string (Facebook, twitter, YouTube and Wikipedia)
3. Top level domain (TLD): highest level and comes after the dot (.com, .net, .org,
.edu, .gov, .ph, .biz)

4. .edu Used for Educational institutions
5. .biz Used for business-focused

6. Trailing period: it is the final period in an FQDN indicates the end of the name,
implying the previous string is the TLD.

For example: "www.TLEcss.com." is an FQDN since it contains a hostname ("www") and

a domain name ("TLEcss.com"), followed by a trailing period. The name " TLEcss.com" is not
fully qualified because it does not include a hostname or end with a period.

FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name): www.TLEcss.com.
