Install Operating System in Accordance with
Established Procedures and Comply with End-user Requirements.
Being able to install an Operating System by following established
procedures and comply with end-user requirements is a must to ensure that one of
the core competencies of the Computer System Servicing be attained. In this
lesson, we will focus on the installation of Windows 10 Operating System.

CSS 11: Install Device Drivers
2 and Updates
The Windows Operating System includes device drivers and has the
feature to automatically update them. Some of these “Drivers” however, may not be
up to date depending on the version or edition of Operating System you use thereby
making them incompatible with the more recently made computer hardware
available. Thus, there is the need to know how to update or install drivers for new
devices installed on the computer after the Operating System installation.
1. Search “Device
Manager” from
search bar.
(Rabadon, Desktop
18 2020)
2. Under “Device Manager”, you will be able to see the list of devices in your
computer as well as if the devices have drivers and are working properly.

3. When buying a computer or a motherboard, it will come with a DVD for its
drivers. If ever there is none, the device drivers will be available for download from
the manufacturer’s website.
To install device drivers from a CD or DVD, depending on the end-user
requirement, the “RUN or Setup” option will need to be selected and the drivers will
automatically be installed. This process is the recommended process to install the
drivers.

11. Most device drivers after installation will require a computer “restart” to ensure
that the devices that will use them will function properly.
(Colleran 2012)
Windows 10 has a feature that automatically update device drivers. The feature
however will also depend on the update settings.
To manually update drivers, the following steps are recommended.
(support.microsoft.com, Update
drivers in Windows 10 n.d.)
1.In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device
Manager.
2.Select a category to see names of devices, then right-click (or press and hold) the
one you would like to update.
3.Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
4.Select Update Driver.
5.If Windows does not find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device
manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

Activity
Instructions: Based on the picture below, write at least three other operations
aside from “updating driver”, you can perform within the “device manager”. Write
