I. Introduction
Every Computer requires an Installation (or setup) of a computer program (including device
drivers and plugins) for making its programs ready for execution. Installation is the particular
configuration of a software or hardware with a view to making it usable with the computer. A soft
or digital copy of the piece of software (program) is needed to install in a specific Operating System.
This module will give you an in-depth explanation of Installers Preparation and OS
Installation Procedures.

IV. Pre-Test
TRUE OR FALSE
Directions: Read each sentence carefully. In a ¼ sheet of paper, write TRUE if the statement is
correct and FALSE if otherwise. DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING IN THIS MODULE.
1. A computer has boot sequence options for the user to change the order of the drives available.
2. Rufus Application requires at least a minimum of 8 Gigabyte USB flash drive storage capacity.
3. Windows Installation can be done using bootable devices such as thumb drives or pen drives.
4. A firewall does not prevent downloading and installations of software inside a computer.
5. Installation of various applications in Windows Operating System do not demand any software or
hardware requirements at all.

V. Learning Activities
Learning Activity 1. Take Me, Pick Me: A Jar of Thoughts
In the previous module, you have been given an in-depth explanation of the types Multimedia
Storage Devices, the Sound Card Connections and the Video Card Ports as well.
This time, you will be taken to another series of learning activities and discover new concepts
of computer that will definitely enrich your previous learning.
What are we waiting for? Here is the first activity of the module.

Learning Activity 2. Triple Two: Exploring My Mind!
The previous task allowed you to explore your minds and write what you know about
different terms related to the lesson.
This time, let’s check how much you know about Installation concepts. In order to do so, here is
the second activity you need to complete.
Given below are three empty containers having different labels and colors
On the first container, identify two bootable devices and write them inside the container box.
On the second one, identify two operating systems you recognize.
On the third container, name two applications you have used before.
Write your answers in your data notebook.
This time, you will be given another task to improve your learning about the installation
processes inside a computer. Let me take you to the third activity.

Given below is an Installation Process Matrix showing the relationship of 4 components
namely: External Devices, Installation Procedure, Computer System and Installer
Application to a whole in quadrants.
By looking at these terms, reflect and think on how are they related to one another.
Your answer/s may be in a sentence or paragraph form.
Write your answer/s in your data notebook in a completely written thought.

|Installers Preparation|
What is an Installer?
An installer is a piece of software that is used to install software programs on a system. Installers
simplify the process of installing software by providing the user a step-by-step process with the
ability to select the desired options (Computer Hope, 2017).

computers, creating a bootable USB Windows installation drive may be the answer we are looking
for (Wikipedia contributors, 2020) .
A boot device is any piece of hardware that can read or contains the files required for a
computer to start. For example, a hard drive, floppy disk drive, CD-ROM drive, DVD drive,
and USB jump drive are all considered bootable devices. However, unless the necessary boot
files are stored on the drive, diskette, or disc, the computer cannot boot from that device
(Computer Hope, 2020).

8 GB USB flash drive (minimum recommended)
An ISO file, often called an ISO image, is a single file that's a perfect representation of an
entire CD, DVD, or BD. The entire contents of a disc can be precisely duplicated in a single ISO
file. An ISO file works in much the same way. The file itself is no good unless it can be opened,
assembled, and used (Fisher, 2020).

In the next modules, you will be taught on how to Install the Windows Operating System.
For now. Let us have first an overview of OS Installation.
Installing Windows usually sound frightening task for beginners. That’s fine. Nothing to
worry about because everything will be made easy for you. If you are planning to install Windows
Operating Systems, no need for you to run to other experts or computer technicians because I am
telling you now that you can do this task all by yourself!
Guidelines in OS Installation
According to Tim Fisher in his online article “What Is an ISO File?”, he mentioned the
following concepts related to Installation of Operating Systems. These are as follows:

Application as well. However, when you try to browse the Windows 7 Operating System
disk image file, you were prompted by an error.
Guide Questions:
1. What conclusions can you make based on what was stated in the scenario?
2. How are you going to troubleshoot the issue?
3. As a CSS student, what was the impact of this lesson to you?
B. Answer the following questions and write them in your data notebook. You can surf the
internet, borrow notes, browse old notes from previous CSS students and other means.
Guide Questions:
1. What is a device driver?
2. What is the importance of installing device drivers in your computer?
