TEACH ME
Learning Task 1:
This lesson will allow you to understand and identify the different types of hardware tool. This
also helps you to select the appropriate tools to be used according to the task requirements.
Direction: Find and encircle the different hand tool terms that are listed below and hidden in the
grid. The words may be hidden in any direction.
✔ Torx Screw
✔ Hex Screw
✔ Philips Head Screw
✔ Flat Head Screwdriver
✔ Hex Driver
✔ Wire Cutter
✔ Tweezer
✔ Part Retriever
Learning Task 2:
Directions: Read the information below that will help you learn more about different
computer hand tools and its uses.
What is a tool?
A tool is a hand-held device that aids in accomplishing tasks. Tools range from a traditional
metal cutting part of a machine to an element of a computer program that activates and controls a
specific function.
How do you select the best tool for the job?
1. Know and understand in detail the scope of work to be accomplished
2. Plan for the scope considering the sequence of tasks.
Selecting the best tool for each job requires proper training on how to use the tools, field
experience in their safe use, and following the manufacturer’s guidance and directives for that specific
tool. Once selected, use the tool for the specific purpose for which it was designed. Not all tools come
with detailed instructions, but there are those that have Do’s and Don’ts for your safety.

Hardware tools are grouped into four categories:
1. Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) Tools- tools used to protect the computer and technician from
static electricity.
2. Hand Tools – a device used to perform work on a material or a physical system using only
hands. It can be manually used employing force or electrically powered using electric current.
3. Cleaning Tools- tools used to clean and organize computer components
4. Diagnostic Tools- used to test and diagnose equipment.
