Activity 1. A. Let’s have a recap of tools and materials and components used to
assemble the computer.

B. Development What I Know

Direction : Arrange the following :

Computer Assembly
A is the first Step and H is the last step.

____1. Prepare the Motherboard.

____2. Mount the Power Supply.
____3. Open the computer case.
____4. Mount the Hard Drive (HDD) inside the computer case
____5. Mount the Motherboard inside the computer case
____6. Install Drives in External Bays
____7. Install Adapter Cards
____8. Connect Internal Cables Power cables are used to supply

What’s in?

Direction : Name the different processing parts of the computer.

What is it?

First thing to remember in Computer Assembly:

1. Prepare your workplace
a. Take inventory – take an inventory of the parts of the computer that you
have.
b. Make Space, Make Time – make sure that you have plenty of working room
and a few hours to proceed.
c. Prepare Grounding Proptection – Use an anti static wrist strap or an anti static
gloves

PROCEDURES IN INSTALLING COMPUTER COMPONENTS

1.Open the computer case

You can open the computer case by removing all the

screws with used of driving tools such as screwdrivers
or Allen wrench depending on the screws used

2. Mount the Power Supply

The power supply can be mounted inside the
computer case using screwdriver.

3. Prepare the Motherboard

a. Install the CPU,
Extra careful should be considered in installing the CPU (Central
Processing Unit. See to it that you correctly follow the proper
positioning of the grove. Use flashlight for proper lighting.

b. Install the CPU fan

After installing the CPU, mount the CPU fan/heat sink and
lock with screws.(note: apply thermal compound before
installing the fan).

c. Install RAM
Align the notches on the RAM module to the keys in the slot and
press down until the side tabs click into place.

4. Mount the Motherboard inside the computer case

Mount the Motherboard inside the computer case and fasten with
screws using screwdrivers. Connect all the wires from power source
supply.

5. Mount the Hard Drive (HDD) inside the computer case

HDD installation steps:
1. Position the HDD so that it aligns with the 3.5-inch
drive bay.
2. Insert the HDD into the drive bay so that the screw
holes in the drive line up with the screw holes in the
case.
3. Secure the HDD to the case using the proper screws.

6. Install Drives in External Bays

Install DVD drives in the computer case.

NIC installation steps: (NIC)
1. Align the NIC to the appropriate slot on the motherboard.
2. Secure the NIC pc mounting bracket.

b. Install the Video Adapter Card

Video adapter card installation steps:
1. Align the video adapter card to the appropriate expansion slot
on the motherboard.
2. Adjust the adapter card until the card is fully seated.

8. Connect Internal Cables

Power cables are used to supply electricity from power
supply to the motherboard, HDD, and DVD.

a. Connect the ATX ( Advanced Technology Extended)

The ATX has 20 or 24 pins

b. Connect Power Cables SATA Power Connectors use a 15-

pin connector to connect to hard disk drives, optical drives, or
any devices that have a SATA power socket
