 The students will give a recap about the previous lesson.
Questions to be asked:
1. What are the different types of Electrical cable?
Answer: UTP, STP, Coaxial cable, Fiber optic cable

2. What cable is widely used in networking?

Answer: UTP

Presenting

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson.

 Why is it important to identify wiring standard used in preparing a cable
It is important to identify wiring standard for us to be guided on what would be the
appropriate wiring standard in preparing an Ethernet cable.

Difference of two LAN cable wiring standard

2 TYPES OF EthernetCABLE
1. Straight- through Cable
- Is a type of cable which the RJ45 connectors each end have the same pin
out. (color code use on both ends are the same.)
- is the standard cable used for almost all purposes, and are often called
"patch cables".
- used to connect different type of devices

2. Crossover Cable
- A type of cable where one end is T56A and the other as T568B.
- Connect two computers directly.
- Usually used to connect same type of devices.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # 1

Dyad Activity

Identify wiring standard used in preparing an Ethernet cable

Direction: The students will identify the type of cable and wiring standard used in the given
situation. They are given 10seconds to answer and will reveal their answer after the allotted
time.

B.

1. What type of cable used to connect these two devices? (2pts.)

2. What type of cable used to connect these two devices? (2pts.)

E. Developing Mastery.
The students will identify what type of wiring standard/LAN cable that is being described.
1. What wiring standards with white green as its first color?
2. What wiring standard used by a straight through cable?
3. What wiring standard with white orange as its first color?
4. What type of LAN cable used to connect same type of device?
5. What type of LAN cable used two different wiring standard in both ends?

F. Finding practical applications of concepts and skill in daily living

- How can you apply wiring standard in your daily lives?

G. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

- Why is it important to use appropriate wiring standard in preparing LAN cables?

H. Evaluating learning
Direction: Identify what type of wiring standard/LAN cable is being presented/used.

1. 2. 3.
4. 5.

I. Additional activities for application or remedial

J. Giving of assignment
- Please bring 2 RJ45 and 1 meter UTP CAT 5E cable for we will be creating a Straight
through cable.
