PLAN Teaching Dates and
January 13, 2025/ 10:00-12:00;1:00-3:00
Time
Date: January 13, 2025
I. Objectives Learning Competencies & Code: TLE_IACSS9- 12MRCN-IIa-e4
Objectives: Troubleshooting and maintaining server-client
network
At the end of the 2-hour class, the learners are expected to:

1. Identify common issues in a server-client network and

their root causes.
2. Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks in a
server-client network.
3. Demonstrate the ability to self-regulate and collaborate
effectively during troubleshooting activities.
4. Reflect on the importance of proactive maintenance in
ensuring network reliability.

II. Subject Matter

Topic Maintenance of computer systems and networks
Instructional Materials  Computers (server and clients) with Windows
 Networking tools (e.g., network cables, switches, routers,
testing devices).
 TV for visual aids.
 Blackboard

References  Online resources

 Windows Server Documentation

Values Integration Focus and patient

III. Procedures
A. Preliminaries
Greetings (1) (The teacher greets the learners.)

Prayer (1) A learner will lead the opening prayer, (if necessary).

Checking of (The teacher or monitor checks the attendance.)

Attendance (1)
B. Lesson Proper
Opener (5) Icebreaker Activity:

Divide the class into small groups and play a quick game called
"Network Detective." Provide each group with clues (network
symptoms) and have them guess the issue (e.g., "Why is the server
unreachable?").
Awareness (3) Recall some malfunctional of network
Activity (15) Self-Regulation Activity:
 Provide students with a checklist of the configuration
steps.
 Students individually reflect on their confidence in each
step using a self-assessment scale
Analysis (7)  Interactive Discussion: Use a troubleshooting flowchart to
explain the systematic approach to identifying and resolving
network issues. Focus on:

 Connectivity issues (e.g., no internet access, server not

reachable).
 Performance issues (e.g., slow data transfer).
 Hardware-related issues (e.g., faulty cables, server
overheating).

Question Prompt: Ask students, "How can proactive maintenance

prevent such issues?"
Abstraction (40) 1. Concept Presentation: Explain key maintenance tasks,
such as:
o Regular hardware checks (e.g., inspecting cables,
cleaning equipment).
o Updating software and firmware.
o Monitoring network performance using tools
(e.g., Task Manager, third-party software).
o Backing up critical data.
2. Visual Aid: Use diagrams and charts to highlight best
practices for server and client maintenance.
3. Self-Regulation Component: Discuss the importance of
a calm, methodical approach to troubleshooting and how
teamwork contributes to efficient problem-solving.

Application (30) 1. Hands-On Activity:

o Pair students and assign each pair a simulated
network issue (e.g., server unreachable, slow file
transfer).
o Provide troubleshooting guides but encourage
students to self-regulate and use a logical
approach.
o Monitor their progress and provide hints only
when necessary.
2. Reflection Activity: After resolving the issue, ask each
group to:
o Share the steps they took to diagnose and fix the
problem.
o Discuss what they learned about teamwork and
self-regulation.
3. Joyful Learning Element: Celebrate successful
troubleshooting with a small reward (e.g., "Network
Guru" badges).

Ender (2) Reminder: “Focus on progress, not perfection.”

IV. Evaluation (20) Written Quiz: Multiple-choice

issue?
a. Replace the network cables
b. Restart the router or modem

d. Update the network drivers
3. Which tool is commonly used to test the connectivity
between two devices on a network?
a. Task Manager
